A blind box is a sealed package that contains a sort of mystery collectible figure or item. You don’t know which specific item you will get until you open it. This format is popular in:

  • Anime & game merchandise (e.g., Jujutsu Kaisen, The apothecary dairies)
  • Designer toys (e.g., Pop Mart, Sonny Angels)
  • Kawaii collectibles from Japan (Sanrio, Pokémon, Rilakkuma)

Blind boxes are designed to encourage collecting, trading and surprise.

The story of POP MART began in Beijing where it was founded by Wang Ning in 2010. It stared off as a small boutique that sold trendy but affordable items such as stationary & accessories. Later in 2014, the main focus was put on toys and in 2015 the blind box was born (inspired by the Japanese gachapon). The first real breakthrough happened in 2016 with the success of Molly. Since then the brand has know a rapid expansion, opening more stores and even vending machines called Roboshops. In 2022 the overseas expansion began which got even bigger with the success of LABUBU, SKULLPANDA and other figures. In 2026, POP MART manages 600+ stores worldwide! It has truly become a king and trendsetter in the market of collectible figures.

POP MART opened its first European store in 2022 in London, Shaftesbury Avenue. Currently it has many stores spread all over Europe, as well as flagship stores in Milan, Amsterdam, Paris and London. As of right now, Europe’s favorite character is the LABUBU. Aside from POP MART stores, it’s sometimes also possible to buy figures in your local anime, comics or entertainment stores. These stores will sometimes host trading events so keep an eye out for that. Another option is following European collector influencers such as @yammy_xox (UK) or @popwithamanda (NL), who create community or host give aways. Sometimes collectors will sell or trade their duplicates on second hand markets such as Vinted. Lastly, you can check all our platforms for updates and events.
